Terms
Terms of Service
Effective Date: July 9, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MunchGuard mobile application (the "App"), developed by Haider Ali. By using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. Use of the App
MunchGuard is a parent-controlled tool that plays parent-approved videos during mealtimes and pauses them based on on-device chewing detection. It is intended to be set up and supervised by a parent or guardian. You agree to use the App only for lawful, personal, family purposes.
2. Parental Responsibility & Supervision
You are responsible for choosing and approving the exact videos and playlists your child can watch, and for supervising your child's use of the App and their device. MunchGuard provides tools to limit viewing to approved content but is not a substitute for adult supervision.
3. Camera and Microphone
The App uses the device camera and microphone during a meal session to detect chewing on-device. By using the chew-to-watch feature you consent to this on-device processing. Chew-detection camera and microphone signals are not recorded or uploaded by MunchGuard. See our Privacy Policy for details.
4. Third-Party Content (YouTube)
Parents add exact YouTube video URLs and playlists they already choose — by pasting a link, using the share sheet, sending approved items from the parent web library dashboard into the app, or (with MunchGuard Premium) optionally connecting their own YouTube account to import playlists and liked videos using read-only access. Web-dashboard imports require parent approval in the app before anything is added to Kid Mode. Videos and playlists are played through YouTube's embedded player and are provided by third parties. MunchGuard does not create, own, control, host, download, cache, redistribute, or endorse that content, and is not responsible for it. Your child's viewing is limited to videos and playlists you approve. If you later add videos to an approved YouTube playlist, those additions may appear in MunchGuard for the selected child. Use of YouTube content, and connecting a YouTube account, are also subject to YouTube's and Google's terms and policies.
5. Your Data
Your approved library, settings, meal summaries, and optional parent voice reminder audio are stored locally on your device. If you optionally connect your YouTube account, the read-only playlist and liked-video data used to pick imports is kept on your device and the access token is stored only in your device Keychain; it is not sent to us. If you choose to use Sign in with Apple, the App may back up and restore approved videos, playlists, settings, and meal history through your personal iCloud account. You can remove content in the App or delete the App to remove local data.
6. Subscriptions and Purchases
Core chew-to-watch playback and your approved video library are available without Premium. MunchGuard Premium unlocks advanced family features and is available as a free trial, subscription, or one-time purchase:
- MunchGuard Premium Monthly is an auto-renewable monthly subscription that begins with a 30-day free trial. After the trial it renews automatically each month at the App Store price shown at purchase (US $0.99/month or your local equivalent) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- MunchGuard Lifetime is a one-time purchase (US $19.99 or your local App Store price) that permanently unlocks Premium.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your Apple ID subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds and payment processing are handled by Apple's App Store.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, characters, and branding, is owned by the developer and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or redistribute the App except as permitted by law.
8. No Medical or Nutritional Advice
MunchGuard is intended to support pleasant, mindful mealtimes. It does not provide medical, nutritional, behavioral, or health advice, and should not be relied upon as such.
9. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that chewing detection will be accurate in all conditions or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
11. Apple Standard EULA
Unless you have a separate written agreement, your use of the App is also governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (the "Licensed Application End User License Agreement"), available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
